Futuristic machinima from 1930

“Second Life: The Virtual Utopia of the Future” is a retro-ironic vision of our brave new world available here on YouTube. The grainy 1930s-style black and white “talkie” machinima was created by Something Awful goon Mr. Decomposing Monstre and benefits greatly from the blurry YouTube video presentation.
For residents feeling a certain level of cynicism about that state of the world, the contrast between the cheerful voiceover narration hyping Second Life as land of opportunity , creativity, and equality and the contrasting imagery of Gorean slaves, cross burnings, and "jiving hep cats" may be just the thing to cheer everyone up. You can also play a sort of machinima "where's Waldo" game by counting the Plastic Duck icons/costumes in the film.
im reminded of the sienfeld episode where that dud comedian says to sienfeld, "it's gold jerry!! gold!!"

Hot damn, that be the funniest most incisive observation on SL since it went live. The 30's worlds fair newsreel take is brilliant, nice work on the jolly announcer as well...esp the audio processing...love the little twist on entrepreneaur!
Left out the bit about also being able to fulfill your fantasy as a raving loony fucktard [ie: porkofy] - but then I guess that ones covered fully by that other perceptive video;-)
