Busted! Furry Caught Soliciting Grid-Crashing Grief from Goons

Furry on Furry Warfare Broadens

Busted_1
For those who have been on the grid for the last few years, stories of users seeking virtual muscle to grief their neighbors is nothing new. Rare is the case, however, where someone is busted in the act of trying to buy some virtual grief. This is apparently what recently happened in a case involving DJ Walcott, a furry administrator of Furpleasure, who sought out some Something Awful Goons (a subgroup of them associated with the W-Hats) in an apparent attempt to hire them to grief an enemy furry group.

Petey's latest Second Life Safari has the whole story, and an excerpt from the incriminating chat log is posted below the fold.

Deathmike Germparrot: DJ at furpleasure everybody
Deathmike Germparrot: now if i get this right DJ is in interested in contracting W Hat to grief places
Dj Walcott: thats right
Deathmike Germparrot: mr funkerton will take over negotations
Dj Walcott: Ok
Funkerton Freelunch: Correct.
Dj Walcott: so whats the deal?
Sara Hebert: What is it you're looking for?
Dj Walcott: prices
Sara Hebert: For... what?
Dj Walcott: all i am looking for at the current time re prices
Forrar Fanwood: what places do you want to have griefed specifically. prices would vary based on that
Dj Walcott: No deal
Sara Hebert: It's kind of hard to really set a price for something with so few details.
Dj Walcott: you tell me basic prices first then we negotiate when and where after the money is delivered
Sara Hebert: Let's just start over from the beginning.
Sara Hebert: What would we need to do?
Dj Walcott: some Greefing
Dj Walcott: if you are TRULY members of W-hat
Dj Walcott: then you know the deal the hams have with Furpleasure
Funkerton Freelunch: True members?
Sara Hebert: Don't mention the W-Hat inner circle, Funk!
Sara Hebert: OHSH
Dj Walcott: How much for the tools to do this
Forrar Fanwood: yeah. just to get this solid though, you are offering 2000 linden dollars in exchange for griefy particle rezzers, and possibly recursive physics scripts
Dj Walcott: define recrsice physics scripts
Forrar Fanwood: scripts which would create physical objects in a recursive of nested fashion
Dj Walcott: what is the likelyhood of one of those crashing a sim?
Forrar Fanwood: 100%
Forrar Fanwood: I recall several instances where objecs like that released on the mainland caused entire grid outages
Forrar Fanwood: The question is are you interrested in this or not
Dj Walcott: i am

I think if you're furry and from a place called "furpleasure" you shouldn't be looking for anything but grief from the W-hats. Considering a large amount of W-hat grief is directed at furries, and i've never heard of the W-hats taking payment to grief anyone, this would probably seem like a bad idea haha

Banrai Nolan

Hmm, it's it great how a having a bad reputation can lead to just a little justice for morons?

Forrar Fanwood

W-hat doesn't grief furries at all. If you didn't already know it, I *AM* a furry! You can see a picture of me and my buisness in the video accompanying the most recent SLS (I'm the bobcat with a tophat and his dick hanging out).

Actually our ROFLcopter is now hovering over the quiet skys of GOR currently for recon and sending the LOL potentiometer off the charts. Still, this is neither here nor there. The point is, W-Hat doesn't give a flying fuck about furries.

For the record I sell cocks at furpleasure. At most we troll a little bit here and there to make idiots even easier to laugh at; I guess the reputation comes from the fact that furries are oftentimes the first to react to things like that.

Petey

I would like to point out a few other things:

A) This isn't the first person who has approached w-hat for griefing, although, with the publicity between the Insider, the Herald, and SA, it might be the last.
B) Isometric Bacon's video is on the last page
C) I spent the first page relaying my side of the Anshe debacle, which has made international news for reasons I still don't understand.

domela

Lame...W-Hats are now resorting to being tattle tales?! The least they could do is try to maintain the mystique of the ominous (but mostly harmless) W-hats!

MarvelOusley

Could you explain the discrepancies between the version of this chat that Second Life Insider posted on January 5th, and this version (reprinted from the Something Awful Web site), in which names are changed, lines are removed, timestamps are removed, and parts are edited?
SLi's version is here:
http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2007/01/05/when-is-a-griefer-not-a-griefer/

Petey

Uh, yeah. As I said in the original article on SA, I posted "selections" because of length and comprehensibility. I cut nothing of any material meaning. I changed names from SL names to pseudonyms as I always do if requested. I removed timestamps and blockquoted and formatted per the requirements of an SA article. And I linked to the original, unedited transcript, available on SLI.

Anything in there seem unreasonable to anyone?

Anonymous W-Hat
