Uri’s Predictions for 2006

You've been waiting all year for these.  Ready?  Let's go!

1) A Linden will be relegated to the cornfield for office hijinks.

2) After several meetings with the FBI, agents will offer Philip a job as an undercover agent in a special task force dedicated to infiltrating metro-sexual crime rings.

3) TrannyPet Barmy will be arrested for stalking Anshe and Robin.

4) Prok will learn to love Brother Linden.  (It will be the rats that finally flip him.)

5) TSO will be shut down.

6) A fight will break out at the next SL Community Convention.  Many punches will be thrown, but almost no one will be hurt.

7) The damages from the next Herald hotel party will reach the tens of thousands of dollars.

8) The Linden will fall below 2.50 US per thousand L, when Linden Lab is compelled to print money to pay off their ever more demanding entitlement addicted content providers.

9) There will be a schism in the FIC, that will last for centuries.  Although dressed up as an ideological thing, it will in point of fact be nothing more than a petty east-coast/west-cost thing.  In rl, shots will be fired outside a club, but no one will be seriously injured.

10) There will be congressional hearings on the evils of videogames.  Joe Lieberman will specifically address the evils of Jenna Fairplay's erotic club.

Why yes, I suppose it is. OK then, Walker gets arrested for stalking them. Or better yet, they get arrested for stalking him? Yeah, that's the ticket...

RB

Unless 5) keeps running at a loss. Not like they can't afford it. Also some additions.

11) RB will make big waves in Eve. *wink*

12) Uri will have more correct predictions than Corey (i think) Linden again.

13) EA will threaten, sue, harass, or take over another someone or some group.

14) Both LL and EA will have some big scandals which will fill many blogs and discussion sites.

er..prok gets arrested for stalking [Aimee Weebler/insert sl identity here].

In 2006 further player voted changes will collectively alienate its own population. Anshe and others will cash out. This is met with great celebration and applause, although its clearly a warning sign to those left behind. This combined with the general gamer burnout and the allure of newer social mmorpgs taking stage in 2006 will lead to a mass exodus of the population out of Second Life. Linden Labs efforts to prevent it are futile and desperate. The game and its creators become a running joke about hold outs and incestous self reverence. Beyond that, Second Life will slowly fade from the gaming scene. Philip will have a long drinking binge and distance himself from his own creation. Without fanfare, Linden Labs shuts down its servers in 2010.

Does anybody have the time to read all that, I wonder?

Simon Lameth

Yes, I have very strong feelings that TSO will be gone by the end of the year.
